Michael Akana is one of the few travel agents certified by the Cruise Line Industry Association (CLIA) as an Elite Cruise Counselor Scholar (ECCS) the highest level of certification available from CLIA . In addition Michael is certified as an Elite Cruise Counselor (ECC), Master Cruise Counselor (MCC) and Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC) program. He was one of CLIA’s first Luxury Cruise Specialist (LCS). Michael is a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC), a Hawaii Certified Destination Specialist (CDL) and Luxury Lifestyle Specialist (LS) with the Travel Institute. Michael earned a Masters of Science in Recreation and Tourism degree from California State University East Bay (CSUEB).
Michael bring the organizational experience of professional consulting work with a variety of non-profits including the YMCA, Stanford University, Shelter Network, the Core Social Services Agencies of San Mateo County, and El Centro de Libertad. Michael currently volunteers with Kiwanis and Kiwanis Key Leader, a training conference in service leadership for youth.
